Can Gich is located at the entrance to the Palagret valley on the Juià side, following the Espolla i Pou farmhouses path, crossing the stream, towards the Palagret castle, in a truly unique environment within the Natural Park from Les Gavarres. Although we do not know the exact year of construction of the Mas, we do know a little about its history. In the past it was known as Mas Banyes, surname of the first owner family. The first written reference to the surname Banyes de Palagret appears in the Pia Almonia Girona of 1372. The house was inherited consecutively by several "Banyes" relatives until the middle of the 20th century. Currently, the house retains the surname of Gich, which has its origins in a family from Sant Martí Vell, a very nearby village, who entered the farm in the mid-19th century as shepherds and finally became owners in 1932. How preserved curiosities include the remains of an old lime kiln and the sgraffito inscriptions on the tiles that protrude from the roof ridge, in apparent Hebrew, which remain a unknown
